All about this Tour

After the Serengeti, Tarangire boasts the second-highest concentration of animals of any Tanzanian National Park, and it is said to have the world’s biggest population of elephants. The Tarangire ecosystem, which includes the park, contains around 700 permanent lions, and sightings are regular. Leopards and cheetahs are less apparent but nonetheless prevalent. Large herds of zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, buffaloes and other herbivores keep them alive. Some believe Tarangire is Tanzania’s greatest bird-watching location, with over 450 bird species. During the wet season, the park’s wild residents scatter throughout the Maasai steppe, covering an area ten times the park’s size. This is also a Tarangire specialty; one of the park’s greatest joys is the opportunity to detect and tune into wild Africa’s seasonal rhythms.
