Mikumi National Park is one of Tanzania’s most accessible and rewarding safari destinations, located just a few hours’ drive from Dar es Salaam. As the fourth-largest national park in the country, it forms part of the vast Selous ecosystem, creating one of Africa’s largest wilderness areas. Often referred to as the “little Serengeti”, Mikumi is defined by its wide-open plains, especially the iconic Mkata Floodplain, where wildlife is easily visible across golden grasslands stretching to the horizon.
