The Northern Circuit route is the longest routes on Kilimanjaro, offering nearly both sides of beautiful scenery also is the quieter, rarely visited northern sides. As the longest route on Kilimanjaro, the Northern Circuit also has the most acclimatization time and the highest summit success rate. The Northern Circuit route is highly recommended for older people, kids and people with no mountain experience. The 9 days trekking northern Circuit route gives better chance of acclimatization because its longer and the body getting used to altitude. The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from Arusha to Lemosho Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rainforest to Shira Ridge, before crossing the Shira Plateau. Arrival & Relaxation

Upon arrival, you will be met timeously at Kilimanjaro Airport by our transfer specialist who will welcome you and then transfer you to your arranged hotel in Arusha. That evening your mountain guide will meet you for a briefing on the hike and check your trekking gears and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment that you required for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

After breakfast at your hotel transfer to Kilimanjaro entrance gate. The guides will manage all permits and complete entry formalities for Kilimanjaro national park. you will served hot lunch After completing the necessary registration formalities at Lemosho National Park gate we start climbing through the forest up to the Big tree camp, The big tree Camp got its name because it is located under a big trees and it is always lively at this camp with bird singing and sound of monkey from morning till evening, this area receive plenty of rainfall, humidity and winds don’t blow here as the big tree act as windbreakers.

Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1

After breakfast in the chattering forest, we start a slow walk to aid acclimatization through the forest and into the moorland zone, where the vegetation begins to thin out as we approach the Shira Plateau. The Shira one Campsite lies on the heather region of Mount Kilimanjaro, with plenty of rainfall and high winds. We will take a lunch stop at the crest of a ridge, just below the Shira Crater at approximately 3,000m/9,850ft. After lunch, we follow the ridgeline steadily upwards towards the Shira Caldera, a high-altitude desert plateau, which is rarely visited. Shira is the third of Kilimanjaro's volcanic cones, and is filled with lava flow from Kibo Peak. A gentle walk of a few hours to stretch our legs in anticipation of the long climb ahead.

Day 4

Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

After a spectacular sunrise that reveals the magnitude of the distant snow-capped crater, we slowly climb into the alpine heather zone. This zone is characterized by high wing, low temperatures, short bushes, a few rocks and moderate rainfall. We will stop for hot lunch and rest before to reach Moir Hut. Today is a shorter walk allowing for further exploration of the lobelias, senecios and other endemic plants on an acclimatizing walk. After lunch you will take a short stroll up to 3,940m this is same additional acclimatizational.

Shira 2 to Moir Camp

After a delicious breakfast, you will continue to trekking to the East up a ridge and then head southeast to Lava tower for hot lunch. This is mostly a gradual ascent. The lava tower stand 300 feet tall volcanic rock formation at this elevation, then you divert from the main trail to Moir Hut is a little used campsite at the base of the lent hills The vegetation in surrounding Moir’s hut is basically an alpine desert region bearing scarcity of the plants or animals Since the area receives very little rainfall Moir’s hut ground is most volcanic ash soil which is extensively rocky. A variety of walks are available on Lent Hills making this an excellent acclimatization opportunity.

Moir Hut to Buffalo camp

The buffalo camp otherwise known as Pofu camp is located on the lower base of the Kibo volcanic cone, we trek out of Moir Valley with a moderately steep climb, then hike to the summit of Lent Hills before returning to the main trail. The path crosses a rock field and gently undulates before reaching Buffalo Camp. This section of the trail offers great views across the plains that lie north of Kilimanjaro and stretch out to the Kenyan/Tanzanian border

Day 7

Buffalo Camp to Third Cave

As we head up Buffalo Ridge, the terrain becomes increasingly sparse. This route is rarely travelled and we will enjoy its mountain wilderness feel. Located along the boundary of the moorland and alpine desert vegetation zones of Mount Kilimanjaro, third cave lies to the north East of Mount Kilimanjaro, the ground at this zone is filled with rocks and scree while the vegetation is filled with shrub and bushes scattered everywhere. We trek through remote valleys on to the northern slopes of Kilimanjaro until we arrive at Third Cave.

Third Cave Camp to School hut

This morning you begin your hike to school hut camping where you will arrive in for lunch. We climb steadily up and over the “Saddle,” which sits between Kibo and Mawenzi. We continue on to our camp, School Hut camping is actually the last accommodation point and campsites along the northern circuit route or grand traverse route.

School hut to Uhuru Peak Descent to Mweka Camp

Very early in the morning (around midnight), we begin our push to the summit. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. The wind and cold at this elevation and time of day can be extreme. We ascend in the darkness for several hours while taking frequent, but short, breaks on the hour. At Gilman’s point 18,600 feet, you will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see, coming over Mawenzi Peak. Finally, we arrive at Uhuru Peak- the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa. From the summit, we now make our descent continuing straight down to the Mweka Hut camp site, stopping at Barafu Camp for lunch. The trail is very rocky and can be hard on the knees. Trekking poles are helpful and make sure you do the correct training for the downhill. Mweka Camp is situated in the upper forest and mist, or rain can be expected in the late afternoon. Later in the evening, we enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep.

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

After breakfast then continue to go down to Mweka gate where you sign your name and details in a register. This is also where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Those climbers who reached Stella Point are issued with green certificates and those who reached Uhuru Peak receive gold certificates. Meet by a driver guide will transfer to last point for hot lunch and then drive back to your hotel in Arusha. It is a welcome treat to sleep in a bed, take a hot shower and celebrate.
