Take the 12 days Mount Kilimanjaro and safari in Tanzania with Tanzania Classic Tours. This thirteen days tour gives you the chance to trek Kilimanjaro via the Machame route for 6 days and a 6-day safari in Tanzania. The safari will have you visit two of the most popular national parks in Tanzania’s Northern Circuit. You will explore the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, Serengeti  and Lake Manyara National parks as part of your 6-day safari from your 12-day trip.

Transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Ar

Upon arrival, you will be met timeously at Kilimanjaro Airport by our transfer specialist who will welcome you and then transfer you to your arranged hotel in Arusha. That evening your mountain guide will meet you for a briefing on the hike and check your trekking gears and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment that you required for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Machame Gate to Machame Camp

you will be picked up at your hotel and heading to the Machame entrance Gate of Mount Kilimanjaro about an hour’s drive. At the gate, your guide will be doing the registration and weighing for the porter’s luggage. while waiting you will be given a hot lunch and providing adequate water before starting the hike. Once this is all done, you will start your hiking adventure within the wonderful Montana forest with beautiful trees, ancient fern trees, lichen, beautiful flowers, endemic flowers. The Machame camp is located above the trees at 2850 meters above sea level.

Day 3

Machame Camp to Shira Camp

After early morning breakfast, you will start your second-day trekking, the path steepens and the landscape changes into moor- and heathland and the open landscape allows you to see the exciting mountain range. The second day’s destination is shorter than the previous day and you will arrive at the Shira Camp by mid-afternoon. The camp has an incredible view of the mountain and incredible the sun lights the rock face and glacier of Kibo

Shira Camp to Barranco Camp

After having a delicious breakfast, you will start the hike to Lava tower 4,640 meters above sea level where you will stop for lunch and after lunch, you will descend to Barranco Camp 3,940 meters. This will let your body to acclimatize very well since you have relative altitude. The vegetation will start to change and become an alpine desert with some of its beautiful flowers like Senecio Kilimanjaro, Lobelia.

Barranco Camp to Katanga camp

The trail with its ascent and descent will be giving you a better chance for more acclimatization before reaching the base camp. At the beginning of the trek, the Barranco wall stands before you conquer it during climbing the Barranco wall you will require to use both hands for a better balance, also your guide will be assisting you in every step while climbing the Barranco wall to reach Karanga Camp 4,035 meter.

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

After enjoying an energetic breakfast, you will be starting your trek to the base camp- Barafu Camp. This day you will be walking through the alpine desert with a view of the Kibo summit on your left side. After reaching Barafu Camp you will be served an early dinner then after dinner, your guide will come for the final briefing.

Day 7

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

After having hot tea and light snacks, the trek will start at midnight. By using a headlight, you will climb the screes of Kibo. After 5 to 6 hours of climbing in the dark, you will get to Stella Point, the crater rim of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will have Another 1-hour trekking along the crater ridge will take you to Uhuru Peak (the summit) at 5,895 meters. Here you will see Kilimanjaro in all its glory, enjoying the 360° view over the landscape below as the sun rises. You are now standing on the “Top of Africa”. After taking pictures and all your explorations, the simple descent starts almost along the same route and shortly before midday you will arrive back at Barafu Camp, after having a hot meal and a well-deserved break of approximately 1 hour, you will be on the way going down to Mweka Camp 3,080 meter.

Day 8

Mweka camp to Mweka Gate

After breakfast then continue to go down to Mweka gate where you sign your name and details in a register. This is also where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Those climbers who reached Stella Point are issued with green certificates and those who reached Uhuru Peak receive gold certificates. Meet by a driver guide and drive to last point Kijiji for hot lunch, and drive back to your hotel. It is a welcome treat to sleep in a bed, take a hot shower and celebrate.

Drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After an early breakfast, you will meet timeously by your expert safari guide at your hotel. Thereafter you will start your journey to Tarangire National Park for a full day of game viewing. The Park is rich with ancient giant baobab trees, also known as the ‘’Tree of life’’, which covers most of the landscape of the park, The Tarangire National Park has the largest concentration of elephant which you can see bathing in the Tarangire river, as well as giraffes, monkey, impala, and many birds. It is also one of the most beautiful places to see lion & leopard. In the late afternoon, you will be driven to your Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Drive from Karatu to Central Serengeti National park

You will start your morning with scrumptious breakfast and get ready for another day of the wilderness. we commence our journey to the Serengeti. We will make several stops as we encounter Lion, Elephant, Zebra, Giraffe, Impala, Leopard, Cheetah, and many others in action whilst hunting and killing prey in the wilderness. Your Safari game drive through the central Serengeti, will allow you to view animals and capture the wilderness in all its magnificence and glory as you drive through the vast plains of the Serengeti.

Game drive in Central Serengeti national park

After breakfast, set out for another exciting day in Serengeti National Park, beginning with a morning game drive to explore different areas of the park. With the sun rising higher, wildlife activity increases, giving you the chance to see predators like lions, leopard and cheetahs on the prowl, as well as large herds of wildebeest, gazelle and zebras. Enjoy the thrill of spotting wildlife and capturing stunning picture amidst the breathtaking scenery

Game drive inside the Crater

Depart early in the morning from Central Serengeti in Serengeti National Park after breakfast and enjoy a scenic en-route game drive across the vast Serengeti plains, with chances to spot lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and large herds of wildebeest. Continue your journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying wildlife sightings along the way as the landscape gradually changes from open savannah to the lush highlands of Ngorongoro. Upon arrival, stop at the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater Viewpoint to take in panoramic views of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater before descending approximately 600 meters to the crater floor for a rewarding game drive. Inside the crater, explore one of Africa’s most wildlife-rich ecosystems where you may encounter lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos, flamingos at Lake Magadi, and possibly the endangered black rhino. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated site near the hippo pool, followed by another short game drive before ascending back to the crater rim in the late afternoon drive to your lodge in Karatu.

Game in Lake Manyara National Park

Depart in the morning from your lodge in Karatu and drive about 45 minutes to Lake Manyara National Park, enjoying scenic views of the Rift Valley along the way. Begin a morning game drive across the park’s varied habitats, including the lush groundwater forest, open savannah, and the lake’s saline flats, spotting elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, tree-climbing lions, hippos, and flamingos along the shores. Pause for a picnic lunch then continue a short afternoon drive to explore birding hotspots and the hot springs before returning back in Arusha Town.
