Today's trek takes you from Mtimkubwa Camp to the stunning Shira Camp 1, where the landscape transforms from dense forest to open moorland. As you ascend, the expansive views of Kilimanjaro’s peak start to unfold, leaving you awe-struck. The camp sits at a higher elevation, offering magnificent vistas and a sense of peace at the foot of the mighty mountain. It's a moderate climb, perfect for acclimatization.

Shira Camp 1 to Barranco Camp

After breakfast, begin trekking across the wide and scenic Shira Plateau, one of the highest plateaus on earth. The trail offers stunning views of Kibo Peak, the highest of Kilimanjaro’s three volcanic cones. As you continue hiking, the landscape gradually changes into the alpine desert zone. You will pass near the area of Lava Tower, a dramatic volcanic rock formation used for acclimatization, before descending into the beautiful Barranco Valley. Arrive at Barranco Camp, a scenic campsite surrounded by giant senecio plants and towering cliffs.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

The summit day begins early with a midnight trek toward Uhuru Peak. After taking in the views, you descend to Mweka Gate, where your journey ends. After breakfast then continue to go down to Mweka gate where you sign your name and details in a register. This is also where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Those climbers who reached Stella Point are issued with green certificates and those who reached Uhuru Peak receive gold certificates. Meet by a driver guide and drive to last point for hot lunch before back to your hotel. It is a welcome treat to sleep in a bed, take a hot shower and celebrate.
