Transfer from Kilimanjaro international Airport to Hotel

Your adventure begins with upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport where you will be welcomed our drive guide and will great you and assist with your luggage and escort you to the comfortable transfer vehicle for you journey to Arusha town. After checking in, you will have time to relax and recover from your long haul international journey. Evening you will meet with your lead mountain guide will conduct a comprehensive climb briefing, explaining the Machame route, altitude safety procedures, daily schedules, and equipment requirements. Your gear will also be checked to ensure you have everything necessary for the trek. The evening is spent resting, hydrating, and preparing for the climb ahead.

Machame Gate to Machame Camp

After breakfast you will drive to Machame Gate where park registration is completed before the trek begins and you served the hot lunch before you start to trekking. The trail starts in the lush rainforest zone, where tall trees covered with moss and hanging vines create a dense canopy overhead. The path can be muddy and humid but is full of life, with possibilities of spotting monkeys and many bird species. The trail gradually ascends through the forest until you reach Machame Camp. Here you will spend your first night on the mountain while enjoying delicious dinner prepared by your mountain chef.

Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Leaving the rainforest behind, the trail climbs steeply through the heath and moorland zone, where the landscape becomes more open and dramatic. Giant heathers and volcanic rock formations dominate the scenery as you continue ascending along ridges with spectacular views of the mountain. As you gain altitude, the air becomes cooler and thinner. Eventually you reach the wide Shira Plateau and arrive at Shira Camp where you will enjoy panoramic views of Kibo Peak and the surrounding wilderness.

Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

This day is important for acclimatization as the trail climbs higher before descending again. The route leads toward the dramatic volcanic formation known as Lava Tower at around 4,630 meters you served hot lunch and take short break before descent to the Barranco camp. Hiking to this elevation helps your body adapt to the altitude. After spending some time near Lava Tower, the trail descends into the beautiful Barranco Valley. Surrounded by giant senecio plants and steep volcanic walls, you reach Barranco Camp, one of the most scenic camps on Kilimanjaro.

Barranco Camp to Katanga Camp

The morning begins with the climb up the famous Barranco Wall. Although it appears steep from below, it is mostly a manageable scramble and one of the most exciting sections of the climb. Once at the top, hikers are rewarded with breathtaking views of glaciers and valleys below. The trail continues across rolling ridges and valleys before reaching Karanga Camp. This shorter trekking day allows for better acclimatization and preparation for the summit push.

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Today you ascend through the alpine desert zone where vegetation becomes very limited due to the harsh climate and high altitude. The trail gradually climbs along a ridge until you arrive at Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. Barafu means “ice” in Swahili, and the camp sits on an exposed rocky ridge with incredible views of Mawenzi Peak and the plains far below. After dinner, your guide will provide a detailed briefing about the summit climb and essential gear for packing and better wear clothes for Summit and then you will go to bed early because the summit attempt begins around midnight.

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

You will be awakened at midnight and after a light breakfast you start trekking at around 1 AM. It is at this stage that the climb becomes much more difficult. The ascent is slow and steady due to the high altitude. After several hours of climbing you reach Stella Point on the crater rim just in time for sunrise. From here you continue along the rim for the final push to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating and taking photographs, you begin the descent back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp where you spend the final night on the mountain

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

After breakfast you descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate where the climb officially ends you sign your name and details ion a register. Those climbers who reached stella point are issued with green certificates and those who reached Uhuru peak receive gold certificates. Meet by a driver guide and drive to the last point for hot lunch before back to your hotel in Arusha and say goodbye to your mountain crew.
