Tanzanian visitors need a passport valid for at least six months after arrival. Most require a tourist visa, costing $20 to $100 for a three-month stay. While obtaining a visa before leaving your home country is recommended, single-entry 90-day tourist (or work) visas are available upon arrival at major entry points, like Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro international airports, provided you have funds to cover the visa fee.

Whereas most European and American citizens require a visa to visit Tanzania, South Africans are among those who are not required to obtain one for stays of up to 90 days.
