Visa Information

How to Get Your Visa for Tanzania

1. eVisa (Recommended)

The easiest and most convenient method is applying online through the official Tanzania Immigration eVisa system before travel. Applicants complete the online form, upload required documents (passport copy and passport-size photo), pay the visa fee, and receive approval via email. Processing usually takes several working days. Travelers must print the approval notice and present it upon arrival.

2.Visa on Arrival

Many nationalities are eligible to obtain a visa upon arrival at major entry points, including international airports such as Julius Nyerere International Airport, Kilimanjaro International Airport, and Abeid Amani Karume International Airport. However, to avoid delays at immigration counters, Tanzania Classic Tours strongly recommends applying for the eVisa in advance.

3. Embassy Visa

Some travelers may need to apply through a Tanzanian embassy or consulate in their country, particularly if they are applying for special visa categories such as business visas, volunteer visas, student visas, work permits, or long-term residence permits. In these cases, applicants may be required to submit additional supporting documents, including invitation letters, employment contracts, proof of enrollment, or detailed travel itineraries. Processing times for embassy applications can vary depending on the country and the type of visa requested, so it is advisable to begin the process well in advance of the intended travel date.

Yellow Fever Requirement

A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required only if you are arriving from, or transiting through, a country with risk of Yellow Fever transmission. It is not required for travelers arriving directly from Europe, North America, or most Asian countries unless they had a long transit in a risk country.
