All about this Tour

At sea level, the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere is around 21%. The percentage remains constant as altitude rises, but the number of oxygen molecules per breath decreases. Because there are around 40% less oxygen molecules each breath at 12,000 feet (3,600 meters), the body must adjust to having less oxygen. The failure of the body to adjust rapidly enough to the lower oxygen at higher altitudes causes altitude sickness, also known as AMS. Altitude sickness can strike people as low as 8,000 feet, but significant symptoms normally don’t appear until they’ve climbed above 12,000 feet.
