Ehlane Plains Camp

You can find something wild and wonderful in this rugged land in the Soit le Motonyi region, which is distant from the Serengeti transit regions. The location is one-of-a-kind; it is unspoiled, quiet, isolated, and thrilling.

Lion prides, cheetahs, huge packs of hyena, and leopards boldly stride across their ranges abound in the region. What has brought them to this location? The Serengeti’s acacia woods surround the vast grassland, drawing herds of elephant, giraffe, zebra, warthog, and other herbivores. It’s time to rumble when a carnivore meets a herbivore on an open plain.

The road transfer from Seronera airport to the ‘empty’ terrain ahead can take 1.5 hours, giving the impression of practically being able to reach out and touch where the sky meets the horizon. A beautiful route winding through this safari setting with a backdrop of massive granite marble-like boulders known as kopjes lies ahead.

Each tented suite has a sitting room with comfy sofas and a coffee table, a dressing area with handmade cabinets, a net-draped king size bed with bedside tables and lights, a mninga writing desk with chair, a full length wall mirror, and soft carpets to walk on. The suite continues into the bathroom, which has a natural theme with a shower, twin sinks, and a flushing toilet. The camp is open, with no fences or rails, and the animals freely roams. Keep your eyes peeled for the excitement of the safari from the silver screen.

The resort takes full use of the African night skies thanks to its remote position.

Two tents have been built as ‘star domes,’ an Arabian concept of an open rooftop with huge couches and a natural planetarium beneath which to sleep. The evenings are stunning, with a limitless flow of clarity from the bright moon to dazzling stars, flickering planets, and a swish of the Milky Way: the vast, apparently empty beyond spread out for eternity; spectacular and captivating. Although seeing the skies appears to be easy, it plainly contains every idea, dream, and secret. The faint whispers of the early morning rays grin and wish the sparkling stars goodbye to their mysterious hiding places. The camp awakens for another day of exploration.

Two tents welcome families of up to five into interconnected suites with individual lounges where they may relax, read, speak, write, or play games — a cushioned covered floor allows them to slumber and dream.

The eating and lounge area is in the heart of the camp, serving as a gathering spot for thrilling stories and meals around the campfire. With the satellite WiFi connection, you can share your adventures with friends and family. The camp is open all year, with the exception of April and May, when it closes for the long rainy season. Solar panels supply energy for illumination and camp operations, while fresh water is gathered from wells within the national park.

Environmentally friendly water drainage and habitat effect are given special consideration. Each tented suite is designed for seclusion while still being prepared for safety — this ‘ehlane’ requires more explanation.

,After seeing the romance of discovery and adventure of safari excursions from a bygone period on the big screen, it’s time to embark on your own unforgettable journeys. Ehlane Plains Camp is located in the Serengeti’s extreme eastern plains, a remote and wildlife-rich area of the savannah. This is where the magic begins, when your wild African dream comes to life. Ehlane is a Zulu word that means “wilderness.” It’s a succinct description of the incredible and newly accessible area that boasts an unrivaled display of predators and predator behavior.
