Karanga Camp

Karanga Camp is a high-altitude campsite on the Machame Route, located at approximately 4,035 metres (13,238 ft) above sea level. After conquering the Barranco Wall, trekkers continue across a dramatic landscape of alpine valleys and rocky ridges before reaching this important camp. Karanga offers spectacular views of Kibo Peak, with rugged volcanic terrain and the distinctive high-altitude vegetation of Kilimanjaro. It is often used as an important acclimatization and resting point before continuing toward Barafu Camp, the final base camp for the summit attempt.
