Kibo Hut is the highest main mountain camp on Mount Kilimanjaro, located at approximately 4,720 metres (15,485 ft) above sea level. Situated in the alpine desert zone between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks, it is the final overnight stop before the summit attempt. The landscape around Kibo is rugged and largely free of vegetation, with dramatic volcanic rocks and wide views across the high-altitude terrain. Trekkers usually rest at Kibo before beginning the demanding ascent toward Uhuru Peak, Tanzania’s highest point.
