3-Day Lake Natron & Oldoinyo Lengai Trek Adventure

After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive towards Lake Natron, travelling through the scenic landscapes of northern Tanzania. The journey offers beautiful views of the Great Rift Valley, remote villages, and Maasai communities along the way.

Upon arrival at Lake Natron, check in at your lodge and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at the camp and prepare for the following day’s activities and the overnight Oldoinyo Lengai trek.

After breakfast, explore the fascinating surroundings of Lake Natron with a guided walking tour. Discover the area’s unique landscapes, seasonal streams, and birdlife, including the large flocks of flamingos for which the lake is well known. You may also visit nearby waterfalls and learn more about the local Maasai communities.

Later in the day, return to the lodge for some rest and an early dinner before preparing for the overnight climb of Oldoinyo Lengai. Depart during the night with an experienced local mountain guide and begin the ascent under the stars. The climb is demanding, with steep volcanic terrain, so a good level of fitness is required.

After completing the trek, descend from Oldoinyo Lengai and return to the lodge for breakfast and some well-deserved rest. Afterward, begin your drive back to Arusha, enjoying the scenic landscapes along the Great Rift Valley.

Arrive in Arusha later in the day, marking the end of your Lake Natron and Oldoinyo Lengai adventure.
