Take the 13 days Mount Kilimanjaro and safari in Tanzania with Tanzania Classic Tours. This thirteen days tour gives you the chance to trek Kilimanjaro via the Machame route for 6 days and a 6-day safari in Tanzania. The safari will have you visit two of the most popular national parks in Tanzania’s Northern Circuit. You will explore the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, Serengeti  and Lake Manyara National parks as part of your 6-day safari from your 13-day trip.

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

Upon arrival, you will be met timeously at Kilimanjaro Airport by our transfer specialist who will welcome you and then transfer you to your arranged hotel in Arusha. That evening your mountain guide will meet you for a briefing on the hike and check your trekking gears and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment that you required for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 2

Machame Camp

you will be picked up at your hotel and heading to the Machame entrance Gate of Mount Kilimanjaro about an hour’s drive. At the gate, your guide will be doing the registration and weighing for the porter’s luggage. while waiting you will be given a lunch and providing adequate water before starting the hike. Once this is all done, you will start your hiking adventure within the wonderful Montana forest with beautiful trees, ancient fern trees, lichen, beautiful flowers, endemic flowers and the Machame camp is located above the trees at 2850 meters above

Day 3

Shira Camp

After early morning breakfast, you will start your second-day trekking, the path steepens and the landscape changes into moor- and heathland and the open landscape allows you to see the exciting mountain range. The second day’s destination is shorter than the previous day and you will arrive at the Shira Camp by mid-afternoon. The camp has an incredible view of the mountain and incredible sunset, the sun lights the rock face and glacier

Day 4

Barranco Camp

After having a delicious breakfast, you will start the hike to Lava tower 4,640 meters above sea level where you will stop for lunch and after lunch, you will descend to Barranco Camp 3,940 meters. This will let your body to acclimatize very well since you have relative altitude. The vegetation will start to change and become an alpine desert with some of its beautiful flowers like Senecio Kilimanjaro, Lobelia.

Day 5

Karanga Camp

Today you’ll face the famous Barranco Wall. Don’t worry no climbing skills are needed, but you might use your hands a little for better balance. Your guide will be right there with you, helping you through every step. The trail goes up and down, which is great for helping your body adjust even more to the altitude. As you walk along the mountain ridge, you’ll see beautiful views with a mix of dry desert and green plants. After a few hours, you’ll reach the misty Karanga Camp. The walk takes about 3 to 4 hours, so there will be plenty of time to relax and maybe enjoy a fun game of rummy before dinner and sleep.

Day 6

Barafu Camp

The trek will begin with the climb of the “Barranco Wall”. Safety is paramount and your guide will be walking close to assist you wherever you require help. Following the ridge, as it traverses up and down, you can appreciate magnificent views of the south glacier of Kibo. In the Karanga Valley, you will have a hot lunch, followed by 3 hours climb to Barafu Camp 4,640 meters. Once at the camp, you can, have an early dinner, and call it an early night.

Day 7

Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

After having hot tea and light snacks, the trek will start at midnight. By using a headlight, you will climb the screes of Kibo. After 5 to 6 hours of climbing in the dark, you will get to Stella Point, the crater rim of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will have Another 1-hour trekking along the crater ridge will take you to Uhuru Peak (the summit) at 5,895 meters. Here you will see Kilimanjaro in all its glory, enjoying the 360° view over the landscape below as the sun rises. You are now standing on the “Top of Africa”. After taking pictures and all your explorations, the simple descent starts almost along the same route and shortly before midday you will arrive back at Barafu Camp, after having a hot meal and a well-deserved break of approximately 1 hour, you will be on the way going down to Mweka Camp 3,080 meter.

Day 8

Mweka Gate

After breakfast then continue to go down to Mweka gate where you sign your name and details in a register. This is also where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Those climbers who reached Stella Point are issued with green certificates and those who reached Uhuru Peak receive gold certificates. Meet by a driver guide and drive to last point Kijiji for hot lunch, and drive back to your hotel. It is a welcome treat to sleep in a bed, take a hot shower and celebrate.

Day 9

Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you will meet timeously by your expert safari guide at your hotel. Thereafter you will start your journey to Tarangire National Park for a full of game viewing takes 5 hours and distance From Arusha its takes 2 hours. The Park is rich with ancient giant baobab trees, also known as the ‘’Tree of life’’, which covers most of the landscape of the park, The Tarangire National Park has the largest concentration of elephant which you can see bathing in the Tarangire river, as well as giraffes, monkey, impala, eland and many birds. It is also one of the most beautiful places to see lion & leopard. you will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the national park surrounded by pristine wilderness and wildlife.

Serengeti National Park

After early breakfast at your hotel, you start drive toward the Serengeti national park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, its takes 4 hours toward the Central Serengeti national park. You stop for beautiful views of the Ngorongoro crater before you proceed to Central Serengeti national park and enjoy the wildlife en route, then you stop in the gate for lunch in designated picnic area and check-in into the park and afternoon begin your first game drive in 2 hours across the vast plains in search of lions, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, and large herds of wildebeest and zebras. By evening, arrive at your camp for dinner and relaxation.

Ngorongoro Crater

After early breakfast you start sunrise game drive from Serengeti toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area with picnic lunch it takes 2 hours. Enjoy the stunning landscapes of the Serengeti with early morning light illuminating the vast plain and providing opportunity to spot wildlife in the way. Upon arrival Ngorongoro Conservation Area you start to descend into the Crater for a spectacular game drive. The Crater is home to the endangered species and big five animals like black rhino and you can spot lions, buffaloes, hippos, and many bird species. Enjoy the game takes 4 hours in game and delicious pinic lunch in the bush and then ascend from the crater and drive to Arusha takes 3 hours.
