10-Days Machame Route Trekking and Zanzibar Holiday

Upon arrival, you will be met on time our drive guide at Kilimanjaro International,  who will welcome you and then transfer you to your arranged hotel in Arusha, then evening your mountain guide will be meet you for a details briefing on the hike and check your trekking gears and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment that you required for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

you will be picked up at your hotel and heading to the Machame entrance Gate of Mount Kilimanjaro about an hour’s drive. At the gate, your guide will be doing the registration and weighing for the porter’s luggage. while waiting you will be given a lunch and providing adequate water before starting the hike. Once this is all done, you will start your hiking adventure within the wonderful Montana forest with beautiful trees, ancient fern trees, lichen, beautiful flowers, endemic flowers.

After early morning breakfast, you will start your second-day trekking, the path steepens and the landscape changes into moor- and heathland and the open landscape allows you to see the exciting mountain range. The second day’s destination is shorter than the previous day and you will arrive at the Shira Camp by mid-afternoon.  The camp has an incredible view of the mountain and incredible sunset, the sun lights the rock face and glacier of Kibo.

After having a delicious breakfast, you will start the hike to Lava tower 4,640 meters above sea level where you will stop for lunch and after lunch, you will descend to Barranco Camp 3,940 meters. This will let your body to acclimatize very well since you have relative altitude. The vegetation will start to change and become an alpine desert with some of its beautiful flowers like Senecio Kilimanjaro, Lobelia.  

Today you’ll face the famous Barranco Wall. Don’t worry no climbing skills are needed, but you might use your hands a little for better balance. Your guide will be right there with you, helping you through every step. The trail goes up and down, which is great for helping your body adjust even more to the altitude. As you walk along the mountain ridge, you’ll see beautiful views with a mix of dry desert and green plants. After a few hours, you’ll reach the misty Karanga Camp. The walk takes about 3 to 4 hours, so there will be plenty of time to relax and maybe enjoy a fun game of rummy before dinner and sleep.

The trek will begin with the climb of the “Barranco Wall”. Safety is paramount and your guide will be walking close to assist you wherever you require help. Following the ridge, as it traverses up and down, you can appreciate magnificent views of the south glacier of Kibo. In the Karanga Valley, you will have a hot lunch, followed by 3 hours climb to Barafu Camp 4,640 meters. Once at the camp, you can, have an early dinner, and call it an early night.

After having hot tea and light snacks, the trek will start at midnight. By using a headlight, you will climb the screes of Kibo. After 5 to 6 hours of climbing in the dark, you will get to Stella Point, the crater rim of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will have Another 1-hour trekking along the crater ridge will take you to Uhuru Peak (the summit) at 5,895 meters. Here you will see Kilimanjaro in all its glory, enjoying the 360° view over the landscape below as the sun rises. You are now standing on the “Top of Africa”. After taking pictures and all your explorations, the simple descent starts almost along the same route and shortly before midday you will arrive back at Barafu Camp, after having a hot meal and a well-deserved break of approximately 1 hour, you will be on the way going down to Mweka Camp 3,100 meter.  

After breakfast then continue to go down to Mweka gate where you sign your name and details in a register.  This is also where successful climbers receive their summit certificates.  Those climbers who reached Stella Point are issued with green certificates and those who reached Uhuru Peak receive gold certificates. Meet by a driver guide and drive to last point Kijiji for hot lunch, and drive back to your hotel. It is a welcome treat to sleep in a bed, take a hot shower and celebrate.

International Airport, your will met by friendly drive guide and transfer to Stone Town where your hotel found, then you Check in and spend the rest of the day at leisure and enjoy hotel facilities and unwind by the ocean.

After breakfast, enjoy a full guided tour to Stone Town. Visit iconic landmarks including House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and anglican Cathedral Stop by Freddie Mercury House and learn about Zanzibar’s global cultural influence and after lunch you continue to explore local markets, souvenir shops, and experience Swahili culture.

Enjoy your  morning at the beach hotel, then depending on your flight time, relax or do some last-minute shopping before transfer to the airport for departure.
