11-Days Kilimanjaro Trekking Via Marangu Route & Unforgettable Zanzibar Beach Holidays

Upon arrival, you will be met timeously at Kilimanjaro Airport by our transfer specialist who will welcome you and then transfer you to your arranged hotel in Moshi or hotel in Arusha. That evening your mountain guide will meet you for a briefing on the hike and check your trekking gears and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment that you required for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

After having your delicious breakfast at the hotel, you will be heading to Marangu gate on Mount Kilimanjaro National Park 1,840 meters, you will be having a lunch box at Marangu gate. After the registration and weighing of the luggage for the porters have been done, your hike will be starting and you will soon be trekking through the Montana forest or rainforest. On your way to the camp, you might see black and white colobus monkeys scrambling through the lush vegetation. you will reach your first day’s camp located in the Montana forest, the Mandara Hut. After enjoying your delicious dinner, your guide will meet you for a briefing about the next day’s hike.

The day commences with an early breakfast and shortly after you have left Mandara Hut, you will arrive at the tree line where vegetation will start to change to shrubs. Just about 6 hours later, the Horombo Hut will come into sight at an altitude of about 3,720 meters above sea level. From the hut, you will have breathtaking views overlooking the Mawenzi peak, Kibo peak, and the Masai grassland.

After early breakfast you will begin your trekking to Kibo Hut, today’s hiking is long and the trail goes through the “last water point” which is followed by the so-called “saddle”. This near plant less plateau links the summit of Kibo with Mawenzi. Today’s destination is Kibo Hut and it may be reached in about 5 to 6 hours. Tonight, you have early dinner so that you can have an early enough rest since you will get up at midnight.

Today is the “long day” – the summit final. You will embark in the middle of the night when the lava ash is still frozen and passing through on it is easier. You will begin with the long and strenuous trek to the summit in the dark. Passing the Hans Meyer cave at 5,200 meters, the hike slowly but surely goes upwards. At sunrise, you will reach Gilman’s Point 5,715 meter on the crater rim. Soon you will be starting feeling warm and after another 1 to 2 hours, you will arrive at Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters. Now you are at “The Top of Africa”. The descent takes the same trails and the lava ash will now have melted encouraging a fast descent. On your way back to Kibo Hut, a hot lunch awaits you and you can take a rest while to regain your strength. After a 1-hour break, you will be going back down to the Horombo Hut 3,720 meter where you will be reaching in the evening.

After breakfast at Horombo Hut, begin your descent through the scenic mountain forest toward Marangu Gate. Upon arrival, complete the park exit formalities and receive your Kilimanjaro achievement certificate from the park authorities, recognizing your successful ascent. Certificates are issued according to the highest point reached—Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) or Gilman’s Point (5,681 m). After celebrating your achievement, meet our team for a comfortable transfer to Arusha.

Upon arrival at Zanzibar International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. After check-in spend the day relaxing and acclimatizing to the tropical island.

After breakfast, embark on a guided tour of Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its narrow winding streets, bustling markets, and historical landmarks such as the Old Fort and the Sultan’s Palace. Learn about Zanzibar’s rich Swahili culture, Arab, Indian, and European influences, and take plenty of photo opportunities.

After breakfast, take a short boat ride to Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island. Discover the island’s history, including its use as a former prison and quarantine station. Meet the famous giant Aldabra tortoises, some over 100 years old, and enjoy the pristine beaches and Changuu Island.

Visit a local spice plantation, one of Zanzibar’s most fascinating attractions, and discover the cultivation, aromas and uses of cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and cardamom. Smell, touch and taste fresh spices and tropical fruits while learning about their culinary and traditional uses. Continue to a local market, where you can experience the vibrant atmosphere, meet local vendors and browse fresh produce, spices, crafts and authentic Zanzibar products. After the tour, return to your hotel for relaxation and leisure.

After breakfast you have relaxation on the beach before   you transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight back home at Zanzibar  International Airport for your international departure flight.
