Mahale Mountain National Park

Mahale Peak National Park is a densely forested mountain rising directly from Lake Tanganyika. It also has some of the most fascinating animals on the planet. The rainforest is located on the western part of the island and is known for its chimpanzee refuge. There are approximately 14 primates living there, along with leopards, blue duikers, red-tailed monkeys, and a variety of other animals, as well as the majority of the rift valley bird species that are not found anywhere else in Tanzania.
